Edward James, RCQ's Founding Director, was invited to attend the 27thAnnual Global ABS conference, and was joined in Barcelona by our well travelled Consultant, Denys Maksymenko.
Over 5,000 delegates from around the world assembled at the annual event, which brings together leaders from the securitisation industry to discuss the latest trends and developments in the market.
The topics of discussion included the impact of regulatory changes on the market, the growth of sustainable finance and the role of technology in securitisation. A key theme discussed throughout the conference was the need for greater transparency in the securitisation market.
Ed commented: “This year’s event was planned very well as always and was great to see a record attendance of over 5,000 industry specialists. The hiring sentiment is positive, particularly in relation to consumer securitisation. It was interesting to see that SRT remains an asset class with strong potential growth, and was great to see so many faces in such a stunning location”.
Although uncertainly is still prevalent, and worries about negative economic headwinds are holding back some expansion plans, the general sentiment is one of optimism about the future - the European securitisation market seems well-positioned to support economic growth.
